Woodmead Taxi Collision Leaves One Dead: One person was killed when a taxi and a bakkie collided in Woodmead, near Midrand in Gauteng yesterday morning. According to ER24, a woman in her 30s was killed and four others were injured after a taxi and bakkie collided at the corner of Woodmead Drive and Van Reenen Road. Paramedics arrived on scene to find the bakkie and taxi sitting in the middle of the intersection. On assessment paramedics found the woman’s body lying a few meters away from the taxi, showing no signs of life.
They did try to assist but unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on scene. Four other patients from the taxi were assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. It is believed that the bakkie collided with the side of the taxi, causing it to roll. Paramedics treated the injured patients on scene before transporting them to hospital for further medical treatment. Police are investigating the incident further.
