Rhodesfield High Tech Building: THE president of the Institute of Municipal Finance Officers (IMFO), Jane Masite, officially unveiled the institute’s new state of the art building on Fortress Street in Rhodesfield. At the same time the new name of the institute, namely Chartered Institute of Government Finance Audit and Risk Officers (CIGFARO), was launched. The institute was established in 1927. It later changed its name from the Institute of Municipal Treasurers and Accountants (IMTA) to IMFO. With the latest name change, CIGFARO’s objective is to address numerous challenges facing the public sector finance and related professions practitioners. It is registered in terms of Section 21 of the Companies Act and is an Association Not for Gain.
The institute plays and important role as a professional body in public finance management and seeks to further contribute constructively in the policy formulation processes relating to government finance, internal audit and risk management. Over the past seven years the scope and mandate of the institute was extended to cater for other related professions to accommodate local government sector auditors, risk practitioners and organisation performance specialists. The new corporate identity will be evident in all communication with immediate effect, while phasing out bit for bit the old brand.
