Returns Home: If you love golf this article is just for you. Amateur Golf in South Africa has received a major boost with the announcement that the popular South Africa Pairs International competition will return to local golf courses after a two year absence. The Namibian capital Windhoek will host the SA International Pairs Championships in June this year in a move which is seen as a major boost for Amateur Golf in SA. The Windhoek Lager International Pairs tees off in early 2016 and gives affiliated golfers a chance to play their way into a National Final, hosted in Windhoek, Namibia.
The international pairs is an international competition, it’s probably the best competition in the world at the moment with players with a handicap and we used to have it in South Africa and the last two years we didn’t have it so this year,” says SA Golf Associations’ Gerhard Conradie. The event brings together amateur golfers from up to 11 African countries and will be incorporated into the National Final in Namibia.
“It’s amazing that we actually going play the SA Pairs in Windhoek, it just shows you how the whole southern Africa is getting drawn into golf and what is means for amateur golf,”
