Pipes That Go Bust
Pipes That Go Bust: Two water pipe bursts around central Kempton Park within hours of each other, have left many residents without water yesterday morning. According to Clr Jaco Terblanche a pipe on Du Plessis Street burst and a second pipe on Kosmos Street burst. His main concern is that more pipes could burst because of air bubbles forming in the pipes as a result of Rand Water cutting off supplies to the metro. To report complaints, communities can call 086-054-3000. For now, five areas have been identified as having the highest occurrence of water pipe bursts and leaks and these vehicles will be allocated there. The rest of the metro will have similar vehicles running in their areas by June 2015. The bakkies are first level response when it comes to a burst pipe and are branded with the Ekurhuleni Metro logo so communities can easily identify them. Best is to always have a few containers of water reserve just in case a pipe bursts in your area.
