Assorted lettuce leaves
1 dozen strawberries halved
1 Avocado sliced
½ Cucumber sliced
½ Red Onion finely sliced
For the pecans:
65 ml Icing Sugar
10 – 15 ml masterblends for braai spicy shisanyama
1 packet pecan nuts

Pecan nut salad: Firstly make the candied pecans. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Line a baking tray with a sheet of baking paper. In a medium bowl, mix together the icing sugar and the master blends for braais spicy shisanyama.

Add 10 ml of water to the sugar mixture and stir until the sugar has dissolved into a sticky glaze.
Add the pecan nuts and toss until they are fully covered.

Put the pecans onto the prepared baking sheet and arrange in a single layer.
Scrape out the remaining glaze from the bowl and drizzle over the nuts.

Bake for 10 – 12 minutes, until the pecans are crusty on top and caramelised and golden on the bottom.

Furthermore,iImmediately slide the baking paper off of the hot baking sheet and allow the pecans to cool
completely.  Once cool, remove the pecans from the baking paper, breaking apart any clusters if necessary,
and store in an airtight container.

Arrange the strawberries, avocado, lettuce, cucumber and red onion on the platter and top with the candied pecans. Serve as a side dish to any meal.
