Lions Send The Bulls Running

Lions Send The Bulls Running: The Emirates Lions put up a scintillating display of fast-paced rugby to decimate the Vodacom Bulls 56-20 in their Vodacom Super Rugby derby at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday night. It was a Lions team that was simply sublime on the evening, that played some exceptional rugby always at pace and which underlined their mantle as the best South African side in the competition at the moment. The Bulls don’t often get beaten at Loftus Versfeld, and even more rarely are they given a hiding – and even less so by a side that houses several players they released years ago. The Lions started their demolition early, with Marnitz Boshoff laying the groundwork with two early penalties before they hit the Bulls hard on the scoreboard. This was a hiding the Bulls team will struggle to forget, and it isn’t likely Lions fans will let them. But the Lions deserve all the plaudits for a display that was simply sensational and set the bar for all future SA franchises.
