East Rand Crime News: A man (28) was arrested in Edleen, on Thursday, in possession of suspected stolen CCTV camera equipment. Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS, said Sgt Stanley Moropo and Const Patrick Modzunga made the arrest at 3pm, in Ilex Street, after noticing the man acting suspiciously and holding a black plastic bag. Upon searching the bag, they found four CCTV sensors inside. The man could not convince officers that these belonged to him and he was arrested.
In other crime news it took eight robbers a whole four hours to load two trucks full of Lion matches in Sebenza last week Saturday. The robbers allegedly tied up a 35-year-old security guard and his colleagues who were on duty before entering the premises of Quality Products on Brine Street around 9.30pm. According to Const Patricia Mgijima from Sebenza SAPS, four of the robbers were armed. After four hours of loading the two trucks with the boxes containing the matches, the guards heard the trucks leave at around 2am. The value of the stolen goods is unknown and the robbers are still at large.
