750 g stewing beef
30 ml steak and shops spice
1 onion chopped
30 ml Oil
1 beef stock pots
250 ml red wine
750 ml hot water
4 potatoes peeled and cut into pieces.
250 ml carrots sliced
3 baby marrows thickly sliced
250 ml carrots sliced

Make the paste:
65 ml Water
250 ml flour
5 ml baking powder
5 ml garlic salt
10 ml Italian herbs
100 ml margarine

Method:
Beef stew with dumplings:  Heat the oil and brown the meat by rolling the beef pieces in the steak and chops spice.
Remove the meat from the pan once browned. Fry the onion until soft.

Return the meat to the pan and stir in the stock pot, wine and hot water and allow to simmer for 45 minutes
to 1 hour or until the meat is tender.  Always add more liquid if necessary.
Add the marrows, potatoes and carrots and simmer for 15 minutes,or until the potatoes are cooked through.
Stir in the corn flour paste and heat, stirring until the sauce thickens.

Dumplings:
Sift the flour, baking powder, garlic salt  and herbs together.
Rub in the margarine and add the cold water to form a soft dough.
Add spoonfuls of the dough to the top of the stew.
Cover with a lid and simmer gently for 10 minutes or until the dumplings are cooked through.
